ABOUT Susan Novich - Illustrator

It may start with a rough sketch, or perhaps with a piece of unusually colored or textured paper. Then there is the addition of pencils...pastels...often some paint, or a pinch of glitter. Backgrounds and characters compose themselves with the help of my exacto knife, and I find myself immersed in the world of cut paper illustration.

After taking time off from my job in Boston as a graphic designer to raise three children, I earned my certificate in Children's Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. During those years, I continued to work as a freelancer, designing logos, brochures, and greeting cards as well as doing a wide range of calligraphy projects, from wedding and other invitations to a 3 x 9 foot tall interior wall installation printed on canvas.

I now live in Barrington, Rhode Island with my husband, Bruce.
